Coral Part 1

The location of the resort, RCI weeks, Coral Sands is right on the ocean. We have, this year, a sandy beach. Hurricanes change the beaches each time one hits or nearly hits (storm surges) the islands. The last 3 times we have been here the beach and surrounding area has been all dead coral because a wicked Hurricane hit and killed the coral. It was all forced up onto land.
Now however, the beach is sandy, because again a Hurricane or storm surge force the sand up.
I will keep you posted when we snorkel, but the girls have said there is a difference in the amount of sea urchins in our water as well as increased sandy spots. As a matter of fact, the pictures above are the remnants of a Hurricane that devastated a resort/business next door to us. The thatched roof hut is all that is left. There are blow holes created amongst all the coral (which is the entire ground you walk on when discovering things over there) which forces the water up with all sorts of critters. We have found a king crab and starfish that was trapped up top by the water. Beautiful but sad.
Tomorrow we are snorkelling.....god willing.
